Music Video Production: How BrightWolf Made VLURE’s Vision ESCALATE Into Something Real with their new music video production!
Here at BrightWolf Films, we’re still buzzing from the incredible experience of bringing to life this music video production for VLURE’s powerful new track, ‘Something Real’. This project was a true testament to collaboration, creativity, and the immense talent flourishing right here in Scotland’s vibrant film scene.
It all started when we received an exciting call from Sony Music Entertainment. They’d discovered us through our website and were keen to explore directors for a music video production for VLURE, a Glasgow band rapidly making waves as one of Scotland’s most vital and culturally significant acts. We were thrilled at the prospect and, after careful consideration, put forward a slate of Scottish-based directors we knew could deliver.
From that impressive lineup, Sony chose the incredibly talented James Price – or ‘Pricey’ as he’s often known in the industry. James, with his extensive experience in drama and music videos, was a perfect fit. He brought with him an equally brilliant team, including the phenomenal cinematographer Steve Cardno and the sharp-eyed editor Mark Fraser.
Bringing a creative vision to life always requires a careful balance, and this project was no exception. While we worked diligently to ensure everything aligned with the project’s parameters and to maximise every moment on set, our focus remained on translating VLURE’s powerful concept to the screen. The band themselves were a wellspring of ideas for the video’s narrative, and James, with his directing prowess, meticulously developed these into a compelling story.
As lead producer, I [Simone Bett], supported by BrightWolf fellow producer Magnus Wake, worked hard to keep everything flowing smoothly and on schedule. It was a whirlwind, full-day shoot, kicking off in the early hours and wrapping up around 7pm, filming at Govan Workspace’s premises at Elderpark Street and Glasgow’s fantastic venue, SWG3.
The atmosphere on set was absolutely electric! Everyone – the cast, the crew, and of course, VLURE themselves – pulled together with incredible dedication. We had a fantastic time, especially watching Psweatpants absolutely nail his role as the “bad boss,” bringing a huge amount of energy to this scene.
Every Music Video Production Needs A Strong Cast
Every music video production must have a great talent. We were incredibly fortunate to have such a brilliant cast, including Conor McCarron from NEDS and Calibre, who James brought onboard for our lead role. Alongside him, we had fantastic cast like Ella Braidwood and Corin Wake as office workers, and Olivia Caw, who played a VLURE fan.
Once filming wrapped, the magic continued in post-production. Mark Fraser did an outstanding job pulling the edit together with impressive speed and skill. We then handled the final colour grade to BrightWolf, with Magnus providing the technical oversight and ensuring every frame popped, before delivering the completed materials back to Sony.
The final result is something we’re incredibly proud of at BrightWolf. Magnus Wake summed up the collective feeling, saying, “This project truly showcased the calibre of Scottish-based talent that can deliver high-quality music films. We’re immensely proud of the entire team and what we achieved together.”
The strong collaboration between VLURE, Sony Music Entertainment, James Price’s team, and BrightWolf Films made for an incredibly positive experience for everyone involved. We’re certainly buoyed up by the whole journey and are eagerly anticipating many more music video production adventures to come!
