When Glasgow post-punk outfit VLURE signed to Sony Music and set about releasing Between Dreams – the fourth single from their eagerly awaited debut album Escalate – someone at the label might well have typed “music video production near me” into a search bar. The answer they found was BrightWolf Films, and the result is a film we’re proud to call our own. The project once again paired BrightWolf with a rising Scottish creative, and with a band firmly established as one of Scotland’s most vital live acts.

From a whisper in the dark to a dance in the light

Directed by James Price – a filmmaker BrightWolf sourced and championed, who has since built a growing name in Scottish drama and music video – the film follows a dreamlike, disoriented journey: a woman waking in a car, running through shadowed woodland, and finally arriving at a euphoric group dance in a vast building. VLURE frontman Niall Goldie described the track as his “inner monologue from a moment in time”, and the choreography-led finale – created by Hannah Collins and performed by ballet dancer Celeste Fernandes of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, alongside the band – brought those lyrics viscerally to life.

Nobody built this alone

This was never a case of handing over a brief and waiting for a cut. From the earliest conversations, the video grew through a genuinely collaborative thought process between the band, the BrightWolf team – Magnus Wake and Simone Bett – and James Price. Ideas were shared, challenged and refined together until a single vision began to take shape. Then, on the day, that vision merged with the craft around it: the choreography, the cinematography, the dancer’s performance – each discipline feeding into the others until one vision was drawn together in total collaboration.

Scottish based talent, front and centre

BrightWolf’s Simone Bett produced, with Magnus Wake as executive producer and editor. They were joined by cinematographer Steve Cardno, costume designer Hazel McKillop, runner Tom Colliar, and a strong Scottish-based crew – continuing BrightWolf’s mission of proving that world-class music videos can be delivered entirely by home-grown talent.

Out into the world

BrightWolf finished the film in-house – edit, grade and mastering of deliverables in both HD and 4K – before handing over to Sony. Between Dreams has since surpassed 6,000+ views on the official VLURE channel, with the album Escalate landing on 26 September 2025.
